Cardiovascular Disease
Cardiovascular disease refers to diseases of the heart and blood vessels, including congestive heart failure, heart attack and stroke. Heart disease accounts for 34 per cent of all deaths in Australia, making it the leading cause of death. One Australian dies from cardiovascular disease every ten minutes. The disease burden on the community and the economy is significant and researchers are investigating ways to improve prevention and treatment methodologies.
