What are the costs involved in attending the clinic?
There are no costs as all appointments are bulk billed to Medicare. Please bring along your Medicare card your first appointment.
Where is the Menzies Institute for Medical Research and is there parking available?
We are located on the corner of Liverpool St and Campbell St, adjacent to the Royal Hobart Hospital. Parking is available underneath the building, which is accessible via Liverpool St (first right on exiting the roundabout). Bays 1-11 are reserved for clinic patients. You will need to report the bay number and your car registration number to ground floor reception when checking in.
When are the appointments?
All assessments are on Thursday afternoons, and doctor consultations are on Wednesday afternoons and Thursday mornings.
What do I need to bring to the appointment?
Please bring your Medicare card and all medications to the initial assessment. Please wear a loose sleeved top so a blood pressure cuff can be applied to the upper arm. Please also refrain from drinking caffeine (coffee, tea, energy drinks) and smoking prior to arriving.
How can I arrange an appointment at the blood pressure clinic?
Appointment to the blood pressure clinic is via referral from your GP. Please speak to you are GP if interested in attending. Once your referral form has been received, the clinic co-ordinator will contact you to make an appointment for an initial assessment.
