Development of new diabetes health outcomes model
Diabetes, when poorly managed, may lead to the development of horrific complications, with substantial decreases in patients' length of life, quality of life and increased costs of treating these complications. Together with University of Melbourne and researchers from Sweden and the USA, we have received NHMRC funding to develop a new state of the art type 1 diabetes simulation model, based on data from 30,000 type 1 diabetes patients from the Swedish National Diabetes Registry to identify interventions that improve patient outcomes and are good value for money in an Australian setting.
